Itinerary

📅 Day 1: Delhi → Rishikesh (Drive: 6-7 hours) 🚗

📍 Start from Delhi early morning (Around 6 AM)
🚗 Drive to Rishikesh (245 km, ~6-7 hours)
🏨 Check-in at Hotel in Rishikesh
🛶 Explore:

  • Lakshman Jhula & Ram Jhula
  • Triveni Ghat (Ganga Aarti) 🙏
  • River rafting in Rishikesh (₹1,000/person by own cost) 🌊
  • Café hopping (Little Buddha Café, Ganga View Café) ☕

📅 Day 2: Rishikesh → Guptkashi (Drive: 7-8 hours) 🚘

📍 Early morning departure (8 AM)
🚗 Drive to Guptkashi (225 km, ~8-9 hours)
🛕 Visit Dhari Devi Temple & Optional Stop at Rudraprayag & Devprayag (Sangam Points)
🏨 Check-in at a hotel in Guptkashi

📅 Day 3: Guptkashi → Kedarnath (Trek: 18 km) 🚶

🚗 Drive to Sonprayag (~30 km)
🚌 Take a shared jeep to Gaurikund (Starting point of trek)
🎒 Start the 18 km trek to Kedarnath (6-8 hours)
🛕 Darshan at Kedarnath Temple (After 4 PM)

📅 Day 4: Kedarnath → Guptkashi 🚶

🌅 Early morning darshan at Kedarnath Temple (4 AM – 6 AM)
🚶 Trek back to Gaurikund (~4-5 hours)
🚌 Take a shared jeep to Sonparyag
🚗 Drive back to Guptkashi (~30 km)
🏨 Check-in at a hotel in Guptkashi

📅 Day 5: Guptkashi → Chopta 🚗

🚗 Drive to Chopta (~60 km, 2 hours)
🛕 Visit Vishwanath & Ardhnarishwar Temple
🏕️ Check-in at Campsite or Homestay in Chopta
🌿 Explore nearby meadows & enjoy sunset views
🔥 Bonfire & Stargazing at Night

📅 Day 6: Tungnath & Chandrashila Trek → Rishikesh → Delhi 🚶🏽‍♂️🚗

🎒 Start early morning trek to Tungnath (Highest Shiva Temple, 3.5 km)
🏔️ Chandrashila Peak (360° Himalayan Views, 1.5 km more)
🚗 Depart for Delhi

  • The best time is May – June and September – October.
  • The temple opens in April/May (Akshaya Tritiya) and closes in October/November (Bhai Dooj).
  • Avoid monsoon season (July – August) due to landslides and heavy rains.

How many days are required for the Kedarnath Yatra?

  • Minimum 3-4 days (from Haridwar/Rishikesh).
  • 5-6 days if combined with nearby places like Badrinath, Tungnath, and Triyuginarayan.

    • Taxis and buses available from Rishikesh to Sonprayag/Gaurikund.
  • By Road:
    • Route: Haridwar → Rishikesh → Devprayag → Rudraprayag → Guptkashi → Sonprayag → Gaurikund → Kedarnath
    • Regular buses/taxis available from Haridwar, Rishikesh & Dehradun.
  • By Trek (16 km from Gaurikund)
    • Gaurikund → Jungle Chatti → Bheembali → Linchauli → Kedarnath
    • Takes 6-8 hours on foot.

Can I take a helicopter to Kedarnath?

  • Yes, helicopter services are available from Phata, Guptkashi & Sirsi.
  • Book in advance due to high demand.
  • Flight time: 7-10 minutes one way.

Is registration mandatory for the Kedarnath Yatra?

  • Yes, online Yatra registration is mandatory.
  • Register on the Uttarakhand Tourism official website.
  • You can also register at Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Sonprayag.
